Thrilling Adventures published some of the more collectible authors, such as Robert E. Howard, Arthur J. Burks, Louis L'Amour and especially L. Ron Hubbard. | TITLE: THRILLING STORIES DATE: 12/29 - CONDITION: FN-VF CONDITION: First issue of only a two issue set. Minor edge tears and creases in cover overhang. Minor warping at spine. Off white paper and supple. Both issues include novelizations of movies. To say this title is scarce is pretty much an understatement. I've seen one other set and the condition on those was nowhere near these. Published right at the beginning of the stock market crash, this title must have received little to no distribution, as the total of number of copies known by us here at Adventure House would be less than 5. | TITLE: THRILLS OF THE JUNGLE DATE: 12/29 - CONDITION: VG-FN CONDITION: First and only issue of the almost impossible to find Hersey pulp. Readers crease in cover, along with some warping, creases, and rubbing to outside edge. Light tan paper, supple. Cobbled together from stories originally purchased by Bernarr MacFadden, when Harold Hersey got his seed money from MacFadden, he also picked up several titles and a passel of stories. An interesting sidebar to this title, is that Robert E. Howard apparently submitted a story for the second issue, but was rejected by Hersey only because he canceled the magazine after only one issue. VALUE: ESTIMATED VALUE - $400-$800

Includes: UNDER THE MOONS OF MARS [Pt 1] by Edgar Rice Burroughs under the pen name of Norman Bean. His first published story. Exceedingly rare, regardless of condition.
